The Kitchen

Just a reminder....I have lost track of the order that things happened while building. When our lives got flipped upside down by the sale of our old house we had to live with relatives with NO internet and very few of our things. 

With that said, after drywall came hardwood floors, then cabinets, tile, interior doors, and one of the last things was paint. Our painter was AMAZING! If you are in the St. Louis area I will highly recommend him! 

So, here is the kitchen...

 All the decisions were tough, but I am very pleased with the way it turned out! 

We went with 5" hard maple flooring

And Cherry Java cabinets from Waypoint

Next to the refrigerator is what we call our "bar" area. The counter is temporary. We have a 2" think solid piece of  oak that is going there, but it has to dry out more. Otherwise it will warp. 

The plywood doesn't look to  bad though. 

We scored a lot of deals to get the "high end" kitchen we wanted. The refrigerator was scratch and dent. Something I learned while shopping for appliances and please take note, this is huge! 

The warranty will fix the "scratch and dent" parts! They will even replace an entire door! 

Chad did the tile backsplash. Looks good, huh? We didn't plan on doing a backslash right away, but then found out the county requires one behind a sink. 

  

The island is a custom color from kabinart . Waypoint didn't offer custom colors. We had to buy the legs at the store, then they sent them to Kabinart to be painted with the cabinets. 

I LOVE my rangehood! 

And farmhouse sink! We get so many compliments on the size of the 36" one compartment sink.

And the CeasarStone Nougat countertops! I fell in love with the kitchen the day they installed the counters! 

The table from the old house fits quite nicely. 

We love the open floor plan! Here is a nice view of the floor. 

The light over the table is temporary. We have an antique wood chandelier that I painted to match the island. It's not done being wired, so we put a temp for inspection. 

PS- The empty places on next to the window will eventually be open shelving. They are also 2" thick solid oak that is still drying out.
